Radio Logan Incorporated was established in 1984 after Logan City Council advertised for interested persons to establish a community Radio Station.

Mr Tom O'Neil then Alderman for Division 10, was the motivating force. The purpose of creating Radio Logan Incorporated - 101 F.M. was to provide the Logan community with news, entertainment, music, current affairs and information on local events and issues affecting the lifestyle of the community of which it serves.

After two years and four test transmissions, Radio Logan Incorporated was granted its licence in Sept 1988 with the commencement of permanent transmission on 18th November 1988.

Our first on-air announcer was David Jull MHR, whom before entering politics worked in commercial Radio and Television.

The Station's first test transmission took place at the residence of J.Horrocks (101 F.M. Technical Director). Three further tests and the first seven years of permanent broadcasting was done from a demountable studio situated behind the Water Tower in Karrawatha Street, Springwood.

In October 1992, the studio was shifted to 101FM's new home which was once the premises of the Woodridge Police Station at 8 Railway Parade, Logan Central.

The support given us by Logan City Council has grown since 1984. The council support 101 FM financially and provide the premises from which we now broadcast.

The Station's 'Call Sign' is 4CBL which aligns us with the areas of primary service - the communities of Logan, Beenleigh and Beaudesert. However, our signal is heard as far a field - south as the New South Wales border, north to the Sunshine Coast, east to the Redlands/Cleveland areas and West to the Northern Beaudesert area.

Our Presenters provide a variety of 'friendly' on-air programs. Our Management team work very effectively behind the scenes to ensure continued success and smooth operation of the station.

Our sponsors play a major role in our stations success. Through their active involvement in the station, the station continues to provide the community with both entertainment and community news and information whilst promoting their products and services.

The Logan area remains one of the fastest growing business and community areas within Australia and with your support of our local business will continue to do so.

Our many members and subscribers continue to support the station through their membership fees whilst enjoying the many on-air advantages and specials.

History

History

Radio Logan Inc., was the initiative of then Division 10 Councilor Tom O'Neil plus the Council P.R. Department, that as Logan had reached “City” status, it would be good for it to have its’ own radio station. So in 1984the Council called for a public meeting, which was attended by a small group of Logan residents.

Within the first year of the organisations’ establishment, Council gave us access to broadcast from the Council premises at 4 Karrawatha Street, Springwood where the water towers are situated – which happens to be the highest point in Logan City.

We stayed on this land for seven years broadcasting from a demountable building. In fact, our transmitter is still situated (along with a number of others) on top of one of the water towers.

In 1992 the State Government wanted to build a new Police precinct – so did a deal with Logan City Council. Council would get the land and premises of the old Police station, plus two other properties in return for another parcel of later further down the road on which to build the new Police Station.

The deal was made, and as Council (more particularly the Mayor who was a great supporter of 101 F.M.) knew how we were trying to find a suitable place to relocate to, offered us the use of the old Police station at 8 Railway Parade, Logan Central. So once refurbishment was completed we moved in, in 1993.

Over a number of years Logan City Council have been financially supportive of Radio Logan Inc. 101 F.M.
