What is 101 F.M.?
There are a number of reasons a person joins 101 F.M.
It could be that they want a new hobby.
Perhaps they want an opportunity to make new friends, or to share with likeminded people their passion about music or a particular belief or interest.
For the journalism student it could be the opportunity to gain some practical experience for what they have learnt in the classroom, which in turn can provide their peers with legitimate work examples.
For others it could be the first steps in the path to a future career in broadcasting, and for those who have retired from a lifetime behind the microphone, it could be an opportunity for them to keep a ‘hand in’ in a non-commercial and stress-free environment.
For others it is a way to connect to the community and be part of the ‘bigger picture’, to help promote the positive aspects of our wonderful city, and the people which make it up.
No matter what the reason, over 100 people have chosen to be part of the 101 F.M. family here in Logan City, and work to maintain a credible, professional and entertaining service to our listeners.
With a programme format which is varied, our listeners can be assured that when they tune to 101.1 F.M., they will not hear profanity or vulgarity – just good family entertainment.
The format features “Bright and Beautiful Hits” covering the best popular music from the 1950’s to present day, while including specialized genres of Country music; Jazz; Popular Classics; Adult Contemporary; Gospel and local Sports. “Random Outburst” is our youth radio show each Friday night from 7 p.m. and provides a training and mentoring opportunity for those under 25. News, views and interviews are covered Monday to Friday in our “Morning Magazine” programme.
The heart of 101 F.M. is our Members with their desire to entertain and please our listeners. Each music track is personally selected and interwoven with local information which is provided to keep our community informed. This information plays an important role in connecting people to their community. Many listeners enjoy the music that 101F.M. plays because it takes them back to their youth, or to a pleasant time in their life.
The stations’ positive outlook is reflected in our presenters’ enthusiastic presentation . Our presenters are passionate about radio as a medium to express themselves and their music, and enjoy the fact that radio is portable and our listeners can take us with them where-ever they go. All our presenters are voluntary and they keep the station ‘live and local’ 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, 52 weeks per year.
